Precision Driving Instruction:
- Provides a course designed for the driving student who desires a challenging, comprehensive route to driving excellence.
- Teaches theories and ideas in the classroom while providing hands-on, behind-the-wheel driving experience.
- Continually stresses and emphasizes the importance of vehicle and highway safety.
The classroom portion of the course can be divided into thirteen sessions of 2.5 hours each plus beginning and ending sessions of one hour each. The course covers all aspects of the beginning driving experience, with extensive use of videos, overheads, and classroom participation.
The behind the wheel (BTW) portion of the course utilizes six one-hour pre-planned routes with specific driving skill objectives to be demonstrated and learned on each route. Parent involvement is crucial (required, in fact), with many skills needing much more practice than is available with the instructor.
Fact: The New Driver needs five years of driving experience to acquire the skills of the average driver.
As well as the precision skills required to operate a vehicle in most traffic conditions, driving as a social skill will be well addressed. Successful completion of this course will provide the graduate with the necessary preparation for the Hawaii driving test.
